Orthodichlorobenzene


Orthodichlorobenze has an IUPAC name as 1, 2-Dichlorobenzene or ortho-dichlorobenzene and has a chemical formula of C6H4Cl2. This is an organic compound which is colorless and has low solubility in water but miscible with most organic solvents. Orthodichlorobenze is a benzene derivative and comprises two adjacent chlorine centers which are primarily used as an antecedent to 1, 2-dichloro-4-nitrobenzene, an intermediate in the synthesis of agrochemicals. 1, 2-dichlorobenzene is reckoned for its versatility, non-flammability and being a high-boiling solvent.
